The Museum Ludwig is a museum of the city of Cologne with an outstanding collection of twentieth and twenty-first century art and is considered one of the most important art museums in the world.
“Cologne is and remains the heart of the worldwide activities that we are privileged to undertake”, said Irene Ludwig when she was made an honorary citizen of the City of Cologne in 1995.
Irene and Peter Ludwig initiated the creation of a museum that continues to play an important role in the art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to this day: In 1976, they donated the largest collection of Pop Art outside the United States, as well as works of contemporary art.
